Attire

As a rule, New Orleans is a casual town - and Jazz Fest is extra casual. Come prepared to spend subtropical days with tens of thousands of fellow music lovers (or at least music appreciators) and warm nights out on the town. Keep an eye on the weather though, not just for the days we are in NOLA, but for the days in advance… if there is rain the week before Jazz Fest, it may be wise to pack boots or shoes that can take a beating as it can be muddy at the fairgrounds. We will provide other festival provisions.

Saturday night dinner is the only restaurant with a dress code: they ask that men wear collared shirts. Since the patriarchy is alive and well, women are not acknowledged.

There is not one road or sidewalk in all of New Orleans that is properly paved. Consider shoes accordingly.

Gifts

Don’t bring any.

And instead of thinking that more shots for Mark at the bar is a way to make up for it, consider a donation to a local nonprofit that Charlie has been supporting while at Tulane. This is a much better use of your money than tequila. Or whiskey.
